Basis for an Appeal  

The criteria for filing an appeal is based on the following:

Criteria
Property Damage or Condition – Provide pictures (interior and/or exterior), fire  reports, and other damage reports, estimates for cost to repair, etc.
Disputed Property Record – Provide information to correct the property information contained on file with the Assessor.
Equalization – Provide information about your assessment value, as it relates to your comparable neighbor’s property.  Your objective is to demonstrate that your property is out of equalization with similar assessment values (land and/or improvements).
Valuation – Provide sales data to support recent sales of comparable properties as they relate to your property.
Classification – Provide information to support the correct classification i.e., utility bills, permits filed with the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs., lease agreements, etc.
Homestead Exemption – Provide information to support owner occupancy status.
