Basis for an Appeal/Supporting Evidence  

The criteria for filing an appeal is based on the following:

  • Property Damage or Condition
  • Disputed Property Record
  • Equalization
  • Valuation
  • Classification
  • Homestead Exemption
All supporting evidences should come in with your completed appeal form supporting evidence may include:
  • Pictures (interior and/or exterior), fire reports, and other damage reports, estimates of cost to repair, etc.
  • Comparables to demonstrate that your property is out of equalization with similar assessment values, sales data to support recent sales of properties as they relate to your property, appraisal, etc.
  • In support of your reclassification please provide information to support the correct classification i.e., utility bills, permits filed with Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs, lease agreements, etc. information to support owner occupancy status.
